About Tweeter Street
A small, independent guide to photographing people where they live and work, and sharing the results with care.
Tweeter Street is a practical guide to environmental and street portrait photography, written for people who want to share their pictures on X. It covers the whole job: choosing a setting, asking a stranger, working with the light you have, shooting on a phone or a camera, editing without making people look like someone else, and posting without exposing more than your subject agreed to.
The site has two parts. The shoot planner on the home page turns a few choices about the place, the light and your gear into a shot list, starting settings, a consent checklist and a caption and alt text draft. The guides go deeper on each step.
Who writes it
The guides are written and maintained by the Tweeter Street Team. They come from shooting portraits on the street, in homes and in workplaces, on cameras and on phones, and we try to write them the way we'd explain things to a friend on a walk: what to do, in what order, and why.
We check facts that change, such as character limits on X and how apps handle location data, against current documentation before publishing, and we revisit them when platforms change. The consent and model release guide gives general US and UK background. It is not legal advice, and we say so on the page.
What you won't find here
There are no photos of real people on this site. The illustrations are simple diagrams we drew ourselves. There are no ads, no affiliate links, no sponsored posts, and no tracking. We don't review or sell gear.
The domain's history
Tweeter Street was relaunched in 2026 under new, independent management. The current site has no connection to earlier owners of the domain and doesn't continue or speak for any earlier project that used this name. If an old link brought you here, the page it pointed to no longer exists; the guides are the best place to start.
Not affiliated with X
Tweeter Street is an independent site. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by X Corp. "X" and "Twitter" are mentioned only to describe how to share photographs on that service.
